At that time, producer Johan Vikstedt wanted to make a record where Kuusisto sings. The sound of Kuusisto became known in radio appearances in the 1950s. Kuusisto performed in opera roles mostly in 1952–1968. Kuusisto also visited the Helsinki National Opera twice. Eero Kosonen, the conductor of the Tampere Orchestra, was happy to attract them to these roles. He sang a total of 21 operetta and opera roles at the Tampere Opera. He had his own first concert in 1952 in Tampere. He then studied singing and visited Tampere choirs and quartets. Mauno Kuusisto initially participated in Finlayson's own music operations.
